With my partial retirement, I am no longer performing routine cosmetic genital plastic surgery, limiting my procedures only to revisions of poorly performed labiaplasties (including the new Alinsod/Bader/Elias procedure to treat labial amputation), and my new Trademarked Labia Majora “Smile Lift” minimally-invasive surgery for “saggy” outer lips (labia majora). Patient Registration Form—Surgical

The State of California, and other states, now require Health Care Practitioners to divulge any relationships they may have with Industry (payments; discounts for using their products; discounts for promoting their products, paid speaking engagements, etc.) This is called “Disclosure,” and is now (in addition to being ethically proper) required by the State Medical Board.

Consumers should look for such a statement on either their Provider’s website and/or on a statement prominently displayed in their office. This is especially important for novel treatments and therapies, especially in the “Cosmetic” arena, where many touted therapies are not evidence-based, and where the practitioner is reimbursed by the company whose product is touted or recommended to patients. Practitioners without such a statement may be reported to their state’s Medical Board.
