Usually, I talk about medical and health-related issues here. But this particular post is going to be more personal, as I’d like to share with you some of the things that have been happening recently.
Several exciting things happened during the month of June, culminating with the publication my book by Amazon. (More on that in just a bit.) Basically, I’m tooting my own horn, but it’s one of the first books of its kind, and I’m eager to share it with you, along with the other updates below.
Research and an Upcoming Project
June saw the end of data collection and the beginning of statistical analysis for the Vulvovaginal Aesthetic Surgery Evaluation Study, a large prospective study focusing on the sexual and body image health of women who are considering (and who later undergo) genital plastic/cosmetic procedures. I am the chief investigator for this group and am in the process of writing the paper on its results. I look forward to submitting it for peer review to a major medical journal within the next few months.
Last month also saw the end of negotiations and signing of a contract with Wiley-Blackwell, one of the world’s major publishers of medical textbooks and medical journals. I’ve been asked to co-edit and co-write what will be the first medical textbook devoted to the subject of women’s genital plastic/cosmetic surgery. With 310 pages and over 175 photos and drawings, it will be a major text, to say the least. To be asked to participate in the creation of this book is a real honor; and I am incredibly proud to be a part of the project. It will be released next year (and I will be sure to keep you updated on it).
The Release of “You Want to Do WHAT? WHERE??”
But the biggest and most exciting news for me was the release by Amazon of the Kindle Edition of “You Want to Do WHAT? WHERE?? All You Ever Wanted to Know About Women’s Genital Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery,” my new book about…well… what the title says!
It is one of the first major popular books on genital plastic/cosmetic surgery available to the general public and was truly a labor of love. I wrote it because I wanted to fill the current void in objective (and understandable) information on genital plastic/cosmetic procedures.
The book is 115 pages and covers everything you’d ever want to know on the subject, including many color photographs and short personal stories written by both patients and staff which have proven to be especially popular. You will be able to download the book for free for a short time. After that, it will cost only $7.99. In addition, starting in October, women calling or mailing our office to inquire about genital plastic/cosmetic surgery will receive a free download of the book as a gift.
