It has come to our attention that there are Central and South American-based physicians making false claims about their qualifications, specifically and inappropriately referencing Dr. Goodman’s techniques and implying that they’ve received training from Dr. Michael Goodman. These unethical physicians are overstating their credentials and putting patients at risk.
Dr. Goodman’s skill and expertise in labiaplasty and vaginoplasty is recognized around the world, and his personal training course administered through “The Labiaplasty and Vaginoplasty Training Institute of America, Inc.,” (a course sanctioned by ECAMS in Europe), is considered the gold standard in surgical training for these highly complex procedures. Only physicians who have successfully completed this multi-day, one-on-one training are entitled to receive an official training certificate or to claim the level of understanding and technique that Dr. Goodman’s training provides.
In investigating these reports, we have learned that some of these doctors have, in fact, attended one of Dr. Goodman’s lectures, one or two of his seminars, or read his book. Though we appreciate those who want to learn, these lessons fall short of the comprehensive training provided to surgeons at our multi-day, hand-on courses in Davis, California; Atlanta, Georgia; Sacrament, California and Athens, Greece.
Patients treated by physicians without the proper skills are at risk for significant injury and a botched surgery. We will be prosecuting these unethical doctors, surgeons and gynecologists to the fullest extent of the law, but our primary concern is for the safety and wellbeing of any patients who may be misled into seeking their care. We strongly encourage you to ask any physician claiming they are “using the technique of Dr. Michael Goodman” for a copy of their official training certificate, and if they are unable to provide you with one we urge you to contact our office. We will provide confirmation for any doctor who has completed the appropriate training, and take aggressive legal action against all others.
Anybody that has a question regarding the true training and experience of their proposed genital plastic/cosmetic surgeon is invited to contact me, c/o firstname.lastname@example.org, and I will be happy to confirm or refute the training of their prospective surgeon.
